ABOUT US

I am Virginie, the creator of Babusia.
I design and craft each piece of jewellery by hand, using thread and Japanese glass beads. My work is part of a slow creative process, where each piece takes time to come into being, far removed from mass production.

Even before Babusia, my vision was already expressed through images.
I made the film *Entre les Montagnes Noires*, centred on former underground miners. A film about men, woven through with their stories, it reveals, in the background, a family memory – the one I have inherited, and the one that eludes me.
Written in the first person, it was my first attempt at exploring the question of origins.

The jewellery came next, as an extension: quieter, more tangible.

Female figures now occupy a central place in my creations. Flowers extend these figures, like their adornments.

Babusia was thus forged at the crossroads of:
- a family heritage,
- a cinematic perspective,
- craftsmanship that has become a language.
